WGP Architects are appointed by Barsad Investments Ltd to prepare a planning application submission for the redevelopment of an existing Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) scheme on Hulse Road, Southampton, known currently as St Margaret’s House. The practice has the added advantage of understanding the existing site having undertaken the refurbishment for the previous owners McLaren Property and therefore have an in-depth knowledge of the constraints & opportunities.
The development proposals and objectives are for the scheme to become Southampton’s most sustainable and high-quality student accommodation development, set to achieve BREEAM Outstanding as well as bio-diverse and biophilic design proposals which exceed current regulations. The room experience has been explored to take PBSA to a new level of quality with design geared towards low whole life carbon impact.
